Teaching speaking at lower levels requires realistic expectations, careful scaffolding, and purposeful language support. This workshop focuses on strategies that help learners speak more confidently without overwhelming them.

We will investigate key challenges faced by A1–B1 level students and explore practical techniques such as controlled practice, functional language, and small speaking tasks. Teachers learn to plan speaking work that is achievable, motivating, and communicative. We will also discuss error treatment, affective support, and the role of modelling.

By the end of the session, participants have a clearer sense of what speaking looks like at lower levels and how to help learners develop meaningful communication step by step.
